The Lost Colony

Here we go…

In the late 1500s, England was becoming very crowded. A small country, it had no colonies oversees (though neighboring countries like Spain did).

Sir Humphrey Gilbert wanted to change that. He received a charter from Queen Elizabeth I, and set sail for the coast of North America.

He sailed across the Atlantic Ocean and landed in Newfoundland and claimed.
